Chaire Sens & Travail

Since its inception in 2016, the « Meaning and Work » (Sens et Travail) Chair has supported companies, executives, and employees wishing to reflect on the meaning of work while upholding Icam’s humanistic values. The Chair is a multidisciplinary action-research center—drawing on sociology, psychology, management sciences, and engineering sciences—focused on organizational dynamics, change management, and the transformation of work, particularly within production systems and centered on the reality of actual work practices.

The Chair is supported by endowment funds and private financing. A distinctive feature of the Chair is that, every semester, it hosts around ten final-year engineering students who are introduced to research and work on managerial issues entrusted to the Chair.

The Chair generates academic knowledge through publications, participation in conferences, and the organization of study days focused on work-related topics. It also collaborates with the Integral Ecology Chair at the Catholic University of Lille.
It delivers a training module on « Integral Management » for fourth-year Icam students, introducing future engineers to fundamental management principles and a systemic, human-centered view of work. Additionally, it contributes to training modules designed for managers and industry professionals.

Depuis sa création en 2016, la chaire « Sens et Travail » accompagne les entreprises, les dirigeants et les collaborateurs ayant la volonté de réfléchir au Sens & Travail en portant les valeurs humanistes de l’Icam. La Chaire Sens & Travail est un centre de recherche action pluridisciplinaire (Sociologue, psychologue, sciences de gestion et sciences de l’ingénieur) en organisation, management du changement, transformation du travail plutôt orientée dans les systèmes productifs autour du travail réel.

La Chaire Sens&Travail est soutenue par des fonds de dotations et des financements privés. La particularité de la Chaire Sens & Travail est qu’elle accueille tous les semestres une dizaine d’élèves ingénieur de fin d’études qui s’initient à la recherche et travaillent autour des problématiques managériales confiées à la Chaire Sens&Travail.

La Chaire Sens & Travail produit de la connaissance académique en publiant, en participant à des colloques et en organisant des journées d’étude autour du travail. Elle participe à la Chaire Ecologie Intégrale de l’Université Catholique de Lille.
Elle dispense un module de formation en 4eme année de l’Icam autour du Management Intégral où les jeunes ingénieurs s’initient aux principes fondamentaux du management, de la vision systémique et humaine du travail. Elle contribue également à des modules de formation pour managers et professionnels de l’industrie.
