PEPR O2R IMM
"The objectives of the IMM project are to develop a new, versatile, interactive mobile manipulator capable of navigating both indoor and outdoor environments for industrial and agricultural applications, while ensuring its integration into society. These two objectives—technological and societal—will go hand in hand throughout the project, thanks to an iterative process consisting of regular, reciprocal exchanges between robotics engineers and researchers in the humanities and social sciences. To achieve this, we have established an interdisciplinary consortium covering a broad spectrum of research topics, including robotics, sociology, ergonomics, communication sciences, and anthropology. Methodologically, we will begin our studies on existing platforms developed over the past decade in France, which have demonstrated their effectiveness and robustness in quasi-real-world settings. We will then gradually transfer the acquired knowledge (both technological and societal) to the new IMM, which will demonstrate the project’s results at the end of these exciting 96 months.
ICAM’s work will begin in 2028, but potential thesis topics are currently under consideration. "
