Icam takes part in the international Magis programme

Since this spring, Icam has been part of the Magis programme, run by Loyola Andalucia and the IAJU (International Association of Jesuit Universities). It offers the opportunity to follow an itinerary focused on education for global citizenship.

The Magis programme involves several Jesuit partner institutions around the world, including Loyola Andalucia in Spain, Creighton University in the United States, Ibero Puebla in Mexico, Kosyam Jesuit Institute of Sciences in Burkina Faso, Sophia University in Japan and St. Xavier’s College in India. In all, there are 38 partner institutions in different countries in Africa, America, Asia and Europe.

The programme offers a one-year itinerary for Icam engineering students. In the first semester, students stay at their home institution and follow a Global Environmental Citizenship module. This course consists of three online sessions.

In the 2nd semester, the Icam engineering students go to a partner institution where they will follow engineering courses in order to validate the ECTS for the academic semester and follow the last 3 sessions of the Global Environmental Citizenship module accompanied by a civic commitment in a local association.

The Magis programme already has five cohorts, totalling 77 students, who have benefited from this programme combining academic exchange and civic involvement. It offers Icam’s engineering students a unique opportunity to deepen their understanding of global citizenship and develop their skills through international academic exchange and service experiences.

The Toulouse site will be the pilot site for 2 years, starting on 1 September 23. Two Icam engineering students will be able to spend each semester (4 per year) with one of the programme’s partners. The Icam Toulouse site undertakes to host 2 students from the partner establishments. The other Icam sites in France and abroad will benefit from this programme after the 2 years, if the trial is successful!

Depuis ce printemps, l’Icam est intégré au programme Magis, piloté par Loyola Andalucia et l’IAJU (International Association of Jesuit Universities). Il offre l’opportunité de suivre un itinéraire axé sur l’éducation à la citoyenneté mondiale.

Le programme Magis implique plusieurs institutions partenaires jésuites à travers le monde, notamment Loyola Andalucia en Espagne, Creighton University aux États-Unis, Ibero Puebla au Mexique, Kosyam Jesuit Institute of Sciences au Burkina Faso, Sophia University au Japon et St. Xavier’s College en Inde. Au total, il y a 38 institutions partenaires dans différents pays d’Afrique, d’Amérique, d’Asie et d’Europe.

Le programme offre un itinéraire d’un an pour les élèves ingénieurs de l’Icam. Au premier semestre, les étudiants restent dans leur institution d’origine et suivent un module de Global Environmental Citizenship. Ce cours se compose de trois sessions en ligne. 

D’autre part, lors du 2nd semestre, les élèves ingénieurs Icam se rendent dans une institution partenaire où ils vont suivre des cours d’ingénierie afin de valider les ECTS du semestre académique et suivre les 3 dernières sessions du module Global Environmental Citizenship accompagné d’un engagement citoyen dans une association locale.

Le programme Magis compte d’ores et déjà cinq cohortes, regroupant un total de 77 étudiants, qui ont pu bénéficier de ce programme alliant échange académique et engagement citoyen. Il offre aux élèves ingénieurs de l’Icam une occasion unique d’approfondir leur compréhension de la citoyenneté mondiale et de développer leurs compétences grâce à des expériences d’échange académique et de service à l’international.

Le site de Toulouse est pilote pendant 2 ans, à compter du 1er septembre 23. Deux élèves ingénieurs Icam pourront partir, par semestre (4 par an) chez un des partenaires du programme. L’Icam site de Toulouse s’engage à recevoir 2 élèves des établissements partenaires. Les autres sites Icam en France et à l’étranger bénéficieront de ce programme après les 2 années, si l’essai est concluant !
