L’ULC-Icam fête ses 10 ans !

Pour marquer les 10 ans d’existence de la faculté d’ingénierie ULC-Icam de l’Université Loyola Congo (ULC), de nombreux événements se sont déroulés rassemblant étudiants, alumni, partenaires et membres du collectif Icam.

Depuis sa création en 2014, la faculté d’Ingénierie ULC-Icam contribue de façon significative à l’éducation supérieure en Afrique centrale et joue un rôle essentiel dans la diffusion des valeurs d’excellence, d’innovation, et d’humanisme qui caractérise notre réseau.

L’ULC-Icam en tant que campus du collectif Icam :
• Forme des leaders compétents et responsables, capables d’accompagner le développement industriel et social de leurs pays.
• Promeut la coopération internationale, grâce à des échanges académiques avec d’autres campus Icam à travers le monde.
• Soutient l’innovation locale, en favorisant des projets entrepreneuriaux portés par les étudiants et les enseignants.

Une conférence de l’Icam et deux masterclass d’exception

Ce 10e anniversaire de la faculté d’ingénierie ULC-Icam a donné lieu à l’organisation de nombreux événements : cérémonie d’ouverture officielle, activités culturelles et festives, conférences et tables rondes.

L’Icam a ainsi animé une conférence passionnante sur le thème « L’Icam et son expérience centenaire dans la formation intégrale : quelles perspectives pour l’Afrique ? », avec le Père Epiphane Kinhoun, SJ, directeur général délégué, coordination Afrique, et Matthieu Vicot, directeur général délégué de l’Icam en charge de l’enseignement supérieur et de la recherche.

Les élèves ingénieurs ont par ailleurs pu assister à une masterclass de Martial Adiang, directeur de l’Institut Ucac-Icam, sur le thème de « la maintenance industrielle : enjeux, perspectives et évolution à l’ère du numérique ». Une intervention captivante qui a mis en lumière les transformations profondes du secteur de la maintenance.
Une autre masterclass était également proposée aux enseignants de l’ULC-Icam à Kinshasa par le Père Maximilien Bossou, SJ, responsable de la formation Informatique à l’Ucac-Icam, sur le thème de « la place de l’IA dans l’enseignement ». Ce dernier a ainsi exploré la façon dont l’intelligence artificielle transforme les méthodes pédagogiques. Les collaborateurs présents ont salué les propositions concrètes pour intégrer ces technologies tout en préservant l’essence de l’enseignement humaniste.

Inauguration d’un nouveau laboratoire

En marge de son 10e anniversaire, la faculté d’ingénierie ULC-Icam a inauguré son laboratoire Système, le 25 novembre dernier, don de Perenco RDC. Ce don est le 2e du groupe Perenco aux écoles d’ingénieurs Icam en Afrique et intervient après l’inauguration de la ligne de production de Bioéthanol, don à l’Institut Ucac-Icam campus de Pointe-Noire.
Ce laboratoire moderne, équipé d’outils spécialisés (banc d’analyse vibratoire, d’hydrologie, de perméabilité des réservoirs, de régulation mixte, banc de démonstration de thermodynamique), constitue un atout majeur pour la formation des ingénieurs, en leur offrant des compétences pratiques dans des domaines clés comme l’énergie, l’environnement et les matériaux.

L’inauguration s’est tenue en présence de Frédéric Kiepferle, Directeur Général de Perenco RDC, Damien Bouveresse, Président de l’Icam, Père Muhigirwa Ferdinand, Recteur de l’Université Loyola du Congo (ULC), Père Gauthier Mafuta, Doyen de la faculté d’ingénierie ULC-Icam ainsi que de nombreux partenaires comme Bracongo, E-Com SAS, Orange RDC et Deloitte.

Grâce à ses partenariats et ses équipements de pointe, la faculté joue un rôle crucial dans la formation de professionnels qualifiés, contribuant au développement de l’industrie locale et internationale et à la préparation d’une nouvelle génération d’ingénieurs innovants pour le futur.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the ULC-Icam School of Engineering at Loyola University Congo (ULC), numerous events were held, bringing together students, alumni, partners, and members of the Icam network.

Since its inception in 2014, the ULC-Icam School of Engineering has made a significant contribution to higher education in Central Africa and plays an essential role in promoting the values of excellence, innovation, and humanism that define our network.

ULC-Icam as a campus of the Icam network:
• Trains competent and responsible leaders capable of supporting the industrial and social development of their countries.
• Promotes international cooperation through academic exchanges with other Icam campuses around the world.
• Supports local innovation by encouraging entrepreneurial projects led by students and teachers.

An Icam conference and two exceptional masterclasses

This 10th anniversary of the ULC-Icam School of Engineering was marked by the organization of numerous events: an official opening ceremony, cultural and festive activities, conferences, and panel discussions.

Icam also hosted an engaging conference on the theme: “Icam and its Century-Long Experience in Holistic Education: What Perspectives for Africa?” The event featured Father Epiphane Kinhoun, SJ, Deputy General Director for African Coordination, and Matthieu Vicot, Deputy General Director of Icam in charge of Higher Education and Research.

The engineering students also had the opportunity to attend a masterclass led by Martial Adiang, Director of the Ucac-Icam Institute, on the theme of “Industrial Maintenance: Challenges, Perspectives, and Evolution in the Digital Age.” This captivating session highlighted the profound transformations taking place in the field of maintenance.

Another masterclass was offered to ULC-Icam teachers in Kinshasa by Father Maximilien Bossou, SJ, head of the IT training program at Ucac-Icam, on the theme of “The Role of AI in Education.” He explored how artificial intelligence is transforming teaching methods. The attendees praised the concrete proposals for integrating these technologies while preserving the essence of humanistic education.

Inauguration of a new laboratory

As part of its 10th anniversary celebrations, the ULC-Icam School of Engineering inaugurated its Systems Laboratory on November 25, a donation from Perenco RDC. This is the second contribution from the Perenco group to Icam engineering schools in Africa, following the inauguration of the Bioethanol Production Line, donated to the Ucac-Icam Institute campus in Pointe-Noire.

This modern laboratory, equipped with specialized tools (vibration analysis bench, hydrology equipment, reservoir permeability testing tools, mixed regulation systems, and a thermodynamics demonstration bench), represents a significant asset for the training of engineers. It provides practical skills in key fields such as energy, the environment, and materials.

The inauguration was held in the presence of Frédéric Kiepferle, Managing Director of Perenco RDC, Damien Bouveresse, President of Icam, Father Muhigirwa Ferdinand, Rector of Loyola University Congo (ULC), Father Gauthier Mafuta, Dean of the ULC-Icam School of Engineering, as well as numerous partners such as Bracongo, E-Com SAS, Orange RDC, and Deloitte.

Thanks to its partnerships and state-of-the-art equipment, the school plays a crucial role in training skilled professionals, contributing to the development of both local and international industries, and preparing a new generation of innovative engineers for the future.
