En Inde, une bibliothèque d’extérieur low-tech appelée “Le Colombier : the Garden Library”

Les étudiants Icam en 4ème année du Bachelor international (o3) du campus de Kochi se sont prêtés au jeu du projet Habitat low-tech, un projet interdisciplinaire d’ingénierie.
Sur le campus de la Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology (RSET), les étudiants de o3 ont construit un espace extérieur durable dans lequel chacun peut venir lire, travailler ou simplement se reposer.
Trois mois ont été nécessaires pour la réalisation de ce projet appelé “Le Colombier : the Garden Library”. Un nom qui a été choisi en référence à l’habitat des colombes, signe de paix et de fraternité entre les étudiants du Rajagiri de différentes nationalités.
Les étudiants ont remis officiellement, le 14 mai dernier, les clefs à l’équipe de direction de l’école, lors d’une cérémonie d’inauguration au cours de laquelle le directeur a prononcé une bénédiction en malayalam, la langue parlée dans le Kerala, Etat du Sud-Ouest de l’Inde. L’équipe de direction a d’ailleurs accordé une place de choix à cette bibliothèque, en plein cœur d’un espace boisé qu’elle voulait réaménager et mettre en valeur, alors que le projet devait initialement être situé dans un lieu très peu visible du campus.
La prochaine équipe d’étudiants va poursuivre le travail avec l’objectif d’améliorer cet espace en terme d’autonomie en énergie et en eau, d‘isolation thermique au niveau du toit, d’intelligence en y intégrant de l‘IoT (Internet of Things), et en réalisant les finitions intérieures de la maison.

Icam students in their 4th year of the International Bachelor (o3) program at the Kochi campus took part in the Habitat low-tech project, an interdisciplinary engineering project.
On the campus of the Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology (RSET), o3 students have built a sustainable outdoor space where anyone can read, work or simply relax.
The project, called “Le Colombier: the Garden Library”, took three months to complete. The name was chosen in reference to the habitat of doves, a sign of peace and fraternity between Rajagiri students of different nationalities.
The students officially handed over the keys to the school’s management team on May 14th, at an inauguration ceremony during which the principal pronounced a blessing in Malayalam, the language spoken in Kerala, a state in south-west India. The management team gave the library pride of place, in the heart of a wooded area that it wanted to redevelop and enhance, whereas the project was initially intended to be located in a very inconspicuous part of the campus.
The next team of students will continue the work with the aim of improving this space in terms of energy and water autonomy, thermal insulation at roof level, intelligence by integrating IoT (Internet of Things), and completing the interior finishing of the house.
